Thomas R. Holbert, 95, of Tulsa, OK, or "Tom," as he was known to all, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, November 3, 2019, at Tulsa, OK. He was born on Friday, September 5, 1924, in Tulsa, OK, to Riley Thomas Holbert and Eva Geneva (Davis) Holbert. Tom was Director of Operations at Don Thornton Ford. He married the love of his life, Wanda (McCraw) Holbert, in 1952, in Van Buren, AR, and they've happily shared 67 years together.
Tom had a kind, gentle spirit, valued his friendships and relationships, and took great pride in his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed working with his hands and doing various projects around his home. Tom was a devoted member of Garnett Road Baptist Church, enjoyed attending various church activities, and served in many capacities through the years; including, Deacon and Church Board. He was a compassionate, charitable man who enjoyed helping others. As a person who lived his faith, he believed in helping wherever he was needed, and volunteered for 25 years with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) known as "Ambassadors" at Tulsa International Airport in Hospitality Services. He loved being a part of that group who have a prominent place at the Tulsa Airport where they give information, directions, etc., to airport travelers. He loved talking with people and this was the perfect volunteer position for him. He did this for many years.
Tom was known for countless acts of generosity and kindness, many of which we will never know, and he leaves behind a legacy of caring that affected many people.
Tom is survived by his wife, Wanda Holbert; daughter, Jill Lang and husband, Stan of Mounds, OK; grandson, Stephen Lang and wife, Meghan; granddaughter, Katelyn Lang; and great-granddaughter, Everbelle. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lou Ann Lawley; granddaughter, Renee DeMent; brother, Parker Holbert; sister, Martha Coury; and a lifetime of friends. Tom will be greatly missed in the days ahead, but his spirit and memories will live on within each of us, because we were privileged to have him in our lives.
The family requests donations be made to Garnett Road Baptist Church or RSVP projects.
