Tom Oxley was born in a farming community in Piggott, Arkansas on August 16, 1934. He graduated from the University of Arkansas with a BSBA in Finance. Before graduating, he was recruited into the United States Army where he served for two years, mainly in Stuttgart, Germany. After discharging from the army, he completed his finance degree and moved to Tulsa, OK where he obtained an MBA from the University of Tulsa and started a long career in the banking industry, eventually rising to the level of vice president. After several years in banking, he became certified as a MAI (member of the appraisal institute) and became a commercial real estate appraiser. He eventually owned and managed his own appraisal company.
Tom enjoyed long walks "to stay in shape, traveling "to see the world" and in his younger days, fishing "to relax." His travels took him to numerous states in the USA as well as Canada, Mexico and South America. He enjoyed cruises and a few deep sea fishing excursions. He was a member and participant in several business, social and church organizations throughout the years.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer O. Liley from Tulsa; two grandchildren, Kristin Leach from Dallas, TX and Nick Liley from Tulsa. Two brothers: Bill Lee Oxley from League City, TX; Kenneth Gerald Oxley from Campbell, MO, and one sister: Barbara Sawyer from Tulsa, OK.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Feb. 3, 2017, 12:00 PM at Moore's Southlawn Chapel, 9350 E. 51st St., Tulsa, OK 74145.
