Thomas Elwood Christie was born August 26, 1944 to Sunday Christie and Zella (Downing) Christie in Tahlequah, OK. He departed this life Sunday September 27, 2020 in Muskogee, OK.
Growing up, Tom attended school at Oak Hill Elementary and Locust Grove High School, where he graduated in 1962. After high school, he attended Haskell Indian College in Lawrence, Kansas. Then Tom proudly served in the United States Army in Vietnam as a helicopter door gunner from 1967 to 1969.
In the summer of 1970, Tom met his life love, Doris Bemore, and they went on to spend the next 41 years together.
Tom lived most of his life in Tulsa, OK, where he worked as a welder for 40 plus years until he retired at his home in Peggs, OK.
Tom loved family gatherings as well as fishing, playing golf, and coon hunting. He also loved watching the Oklahoma Sooners play.
Tom is survived by: his sister, Sandra McClain, of Peggs, OK; his brothers, Richard Christie of Peggs, OK, and Paul Christie and his wife Mickey of Peggs, OK; two daughters, Barbara Herman and her husband Randy of Berryhill, OK, and Laura Palone of Cookson, OK; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews; and also a special friend, Jana Armstrong.
Tom was preceded in death by: his wife Doris; his parents; three brothers, Charles, William, and Anthony Christie; his sister Rachel Best; and son Frank Bemore.
Visitation will be 6-8 PM, Thursday, October 1, 2020 at Faith Baptist Church, 9454 S. 447 Rd., Locust Grove, OK. Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, October 2, 2020 at Moore's Southlawn Chapel, 9350 E. 51st, Tulsa, OK. Moore's Southlawn 918-663-2233
