Nguyễn Văn Thụy was born on April 15, 1964, in Quảng Ngãi, Vietnam, to the late Nguyễn Kỳ Truyện (2012) and Võ Thị Nhung.
During his years in Vietnam, Thụy spent part of his life as a brother at the Congregation of the Mother of the Redeemer (Dòng Đồng Công). He also worked as an English and Mathematics teacher. A devout Catholic, he deeply valued education, faith, and strong moral principles. He frequently shared Bible stories and lessons with his children, hoping to pass down his faith, compassion, and love to future generations.
On July 27, 1997, Thụy married his beloved wife, Phạm Mỹ Linh, in Saigon, Vietnam. Together, they built a loving home and raised their three children. On April 15, 2016, his 52nd birthday, Thụy and his family immigrated to the United States, beginning a new chapter filled with hope and dreams of a better future for their family.
In the United States, Thụy initially worked at Walmart before joining Macy's Fulfillment Center in Owasso, Oklahoma, where he continued working until the facility closed in March 2026. From his years of religious formation and teaching in Vietnam to building a new life in America, Thụy's journey was one of perseverance, dedication, and love for his family.
Thụy is survived by his loving mother, Võ Thị Nhung; his sisters, Nguyễn Thị Thúy, Nguyễn Thị Thủy, Nguyễn Thị Thùy, and Nguyễn Thị Thu; his devoted wife, Phạm Mỹ Linh; his children, Nguyễn Phạm Thiên An, Nguyễn Phạm Thiên Thơ, Evan Andrew Fitzgerald, and Nguyễn Phạm Thiên Ân; and his beloved granddaughter, Eleanor Nguyệt Fitzgerald.
With faith in the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, his family entrusts his soul to the loving and merciful hands of God.
May God welcome the soul of Anthony (Antôn) Nguyễn Văn Thụy into the eternal joy and peace of Heaven. Amen.
