Tim passed away peacefully on October 12, 2022 with his family by his side. He was born on November 26, 1960 in Wichita, KS. to his father, Chief Master Sergeant Robert Charles Pike and his mother, Patty Jo Pike.
Tim grew up in a military family with the Air Force moving his family around his entire childhood. Tim got to see many places in his early years. He graduated from Gosnell High School in Blytheville, AR in 1979. He attended University of Central Arkansas (UCA) and eventually graduated from Wichita State University (WSU). While at WSU, he was actively involved in the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity.
In July 1984, he joined the Tulsa Police Department where he spent his 34-year career fully committed to making a difference. He selflessly and fearlessly day after day aimed for protecting and serving the community, and in some cases even saving the lives of those around him, taking his police oath to the fullest. He was a true and bona fide public servant.
Tim is notably recognized for his performance all throughout his career and especially during his 20 years in the Mingo Valley Division Traffic unit. This unit was his family then and still is. He wrote thousands of tickets, worked hundreds of wrecks, and despite his angst of public recognition, he was praised and recognized at many Buckle Down awards for his acts of service, bravery, passion, and drive to making an impact on the streets of Tulsa.
Tim's first love was his family. He loved his family fiercely and unconditionally. He was over the moon and his heart was full when his family was close, especially his children and grandchildren. They made his heart overflow with pride and joy. All his children have been influenced by Tim's public service in that each of them has followed in his footsteps and are serving the public via the military, education, and social service professions. His love was unwavering and felt by all his family.
Tim loved God privately and tenderly. His faith to God was precious and true. He loved to read scripture and listen to Christian music; it brought him solace and peace.
His other loves were golf, football, fishing, snow skiing, and the beach. He was extremely proud to be in a military family; always doting on his dad, Bob, his brothers Lanny and Danny and their achievements in the Air Force. Additionally, Tim was the ultimate "big" brother for Kathy, taking her under his wing from an early age. Tim had a passion for planes and guns and he never missed a beat naming all of them, while challenging others on their knowledge.
Tim retired from TPD in July 2018. Tim is well known within the TPD community for his charismatic demeanor, his humor, his grit, commitment and dedication, his brotherhood to his traffic squad "guys", and undeniably for his napkin cartoon drawings. He had a unique way of connecting with people to make serious situations more bearable for those involved. He was a prankster - no one was safe from being made fun of, but everyone loved that about Tim.
He is survived by his wife Teresa of 25 years and his three children; son, Robert Pike and his wife Stephanie; daughter Amy Zacher and her husband Ian; daughter Mary McCurdy, and her husband Mason; three grandchildren from Robert; Tristan, Layla and Wyatt Pike; mother Patty Pike; brothers Lanny Pike and wife Jeanette; Daniel Pike, and his wife Carrie; sister Kathy Schumaker, and her husband Troy; many nieces, great nieces, nephews, and a loving extensive family. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Lanning and Caroline Pike and Art and Irene Bellew; his father, Ret. Chief Master Sergeant Robert Charles Pike; niece, Meghan Bell, and nephew, Ben Pike.
Tim leaves behind quite a legacy. A legacy that will be told for years and felt far and wide. ... a legacy of unwavering love, pranks, jokes, one-liners, cartoons, non-stop wit that no one could ever understand where it came from, and constant laughter....... He leaves a legacy of police stories that will be told forever!
Although we are rejoicing that Tim is no longer suffering from a harsh and unforgiving disease, we are agonizing over the quietness of his absence. But God has bigger plans for you, love!
In closing, from his wife Teresa:
I took you to be my best friend, my favorite person, my love. I promised to walk this life beside you. I promised to never stop trying. I promised to snuggle, smile, speak the truth, and always forgive. I promised to laugh with you, cry with you, protect you, and build you up. I promised to choose you today and all of my tomorrows. I promised you all of me and all of my love always. God Speed my Love. Until we meet again, Rest in Peace.
