Tom J. LaBenske departed this earth April 15, 2014. He was born April 5, 1928 in Fairfax, Oklahoma, the only child of Joe and Ruby LaBenske.
Tom graduated from Fairfax High School. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1950 where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity. While at the University he was a member of Ruf Neks and R.O.T.C. He received his B.A. degree in business. n October 1, 1950, he married Barbara Breneman. They were married 63 years.
Tom served 2 years in the military during the Korean War. After the war, the couple settled in Tulsa where Tom was employed by Sunray Oil Company. He took early retirement in 1986. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he served on the Christian Service Board, the Deacons and the Elders, where he was Clerk of the Session. Tom delivered Meals on Wheels for 12 years. He was a Gillie at Gilcrease Museum and served as a docent for many years.
Tom was predeceased by his parents and his son, Wade Thomas LaBenske. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, his daughter Carole L. Alfonso (George) and four grandchildren: Kathryn and Ross LaBenske and Madeline and Jackson Alfonso.
A memorial service is planned for Tuesday, April 22nd at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of First Presbyterian Church. Friends who want to honor him may donate to Helping Hand Fund at First Presbyterian Church, 709 S. Boston.
