Tommie Jean (Bush) Turner was born on December 26, 1927 in Tulsa, OK and she passed away peacefully at her home in Tulsa on July 20, 2026.

She was the middle of three daughters to Luther Allen and Edwina Frances (Brown) Bush.

Tommie graduated from Central High School in Tulsa, OK in 1946.

In September of 1947 Tommie married "the most handsome man in the world" and love of her life, Carl Turner. Tommie and Carl would eventually settle into their forever home where she lived for 62 years. Together they raised their four children, Georgia, Linda, Carlene and Carl.

Tommie worked at Sartain Fischbein and Arthur Young Accounting for many years as a bookkeeper always showing up for work wearing her high heels and carrying her beautiful handbags. More lucrative jobs in other states did not interest either of them especially Tommie. She was content with their little patch of "peace on earth" in Tulsa where there was always a house full of family and friends for every Sunday dinner.

Tommie loved to be a gracious hostess. On more than one occasion, a "sketchy stranger" would arrive with one of the kids and she always greeted them warmly, found a place for them at the table, offered food and made everyone welcome.

Their home was known for hosting legendary wiener roasts, bonfires, 4th of July extravaganzas, birthday parties and even a backyard wedding or two. On one occasion the dance party in the field attracted a local police officer who stopped by to see what all the fun was about!

Her home was a refuge for all - kids, grandkids, cousins and good friends were always invited to stay a bit while they worked out whatever might be going on in their lives.

Tommie was what many described as "the best cook ever". The family camped most summers at Spring Creek. After playing bridge in the shade of the trees as the kids explored all day, she would prove her cooking skills by making fried chicken over the campfire with spinach and polk salad and fresh tomatoes so everyone could end their day eating like Kings.

Tommie was an avid antique collector. When not at work, cooking or entertaining, you would find her roaming far and wide with her daughters searching for her next treasure. One day Linda and her drove so far that they wound up staying the night in Texas. Over margaritas and Mexican food that evening, she said, "I guess we should call the guys and let them know we're not coming home tonight".

She was asked shortly before her 98th birthday what she would want said at her funeral she replied "Love one another, forgive one another, don't hold a grudge. Family is the most important thing". With a twinkle in her eye, she grinned and added "Man Rolls". Oh and by the way, Grandma made sure to mention to give all you kids a pinch!

Tommie was preceded in death by her parents Allen and Edwina Bush, husband Carl, two sisters Mary Annette Smith and Allene Woodruff, daughter Georgia Currie and husband Doug, and daughter Carlene Townsend.

She is survived by her daughter Linda Johnson and favorite son-in-law Randy Johnson of Oklahoma City, son Carl Turner and caring daughter-in-law Theresa Turner of Tulsa; grandchildren Brad Currie, April Barnes and husband Clint, Matthew Weber, Bradley Johnson and wife Becky, Autumn Turner, Summer Iven and husband Van Shea, Joshua Goforth, Aubrey Clay, Colton Turner, Winter Baucom, Zachary Baucom and Katelyn Epperley and husband Caleb.

Tommie was blessed with 14 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren that kept her young at heart.

Funeral Service for Tommie will be on Monday, July 27, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Memorial contributions can be made in Tommie's name to the Salvation Army or the ASPCA.
