IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Uriah Walter
Pittman
April 26, 1948 – March 10, 2026
Uriah "Roy" Pittman was born in Newfoundland, Canada on April 26th, 1948, and passed away on March 10th, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. He is survived by his two children, Julie Monnot and Aaron Pittman, his daughter-in-law and dear friend Kristin Pittman, his siblings: Joyce, Joe, Allen Pittman, and James Akin, and his four grandchildren: Emrys and Michael Monnot, and Ellison and Gage Pittman. He is preceded in death by his father Abel Pittman, his mother Della Pittman, and his ex-wife and friend Janice Pittman.
Roy graduated from Madison Central School in 1967, afterward moving to Ontario, Canada. In 1969, he was drafted for active duty in the Vietnam War, serving as a helicopter pilot in the army until 1971. After the completion of his service, he earned a degree in hotel & restaurant management and later attended flight school at Spartan College in Tulsa, Oklahoma. During his time in flight school, he worked as a gas station attendant. It was at this job, in 1974, that he met the mother of his children, Jan Pittman. After spilling gas on her car, he offered to wash it and asked her out on a date. In 1975, he joined the national guard and began a 33-year long career as a UPS truck driver. During his retirement, he enjoyed helping care for his grandchildren and going to dinner with his family.
Roy was an incredibly generous man, driven by love for his family. He gave all that he could to his children and grandchildren, from advice to support, he was always there for us. A piece of wisdom he has passed along in many conversations was "we'll make the best of it." Though it will be hard to do so without him in our lives, we shall do our best and we will forever cherish the memories we have of him.
A funeral service for Roy will be held at 1pm on Saturday, March 21st at Moore Southlawn Funeral Chapel, 9350 E 51st, Tulsa, OK
