Obituary

Veaujilla Elizabeth Watts died Friday, February 28, 2014 at the age of 88 years. She was born in Stillwater, Oklahoma, October 12, 1925 to Leslie and Ella Vee Hazen. While attending Oklahoma A&M she met and married fellow student Herbert Watts in 1944. Together they raised two sons and resided in Tulsa from 1951. After seeing her two sons off to college she completed the registered nurse program at Hillcrest Hospital and began a twenty year career, first in the cardiac care unit at Hillcrest. Then as head nurse she helped open the University of Oklahoma Medical College Family Practice Center in Tulsa until she retired to care for her father, step-mother Mattie, and aunt Nina Craig. In retirement she was an active volunteer for Emergency Infant Services, Meals on Wheels, Memorial Drive Methodist Church, the Red Cross, and Ombudsman for the elderly, for which she was recognized as a Red Cross Hero and given the Tulsa Pinnacle award. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Herb. Together they enjoyed playing bridge with friends, traveling, and their ever expanding family. She is survived by children Clayton and Kathy Watts of Dallas, Gary and Linda Watts of Tulsa, grandchildren, Steve and Sandy Watts, Ethan and Manuela Watts, Adam and Katy Watts, Fritha and Patrick Ohlson, Ben and Katy Jo Watts, Dylan Watts, and Sarah and Jeff Sparkman, and great grandchildren Fletcher, Ella, Audrey, Clara, Emma , Ava, Jesper, Sofia, Jack, John, Luke, Grace, Liam, and Nathan. Visitation will be held 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Moore's Eastlawn Chapel, 1908 S. Memorial Dr., Tulsa. A service celebrating her life will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 4, at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church, 15th and Memorial, . In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Vo's name to Emergency Infant Services, Inc., 222 S. Houston Ave., Tulsa, OK 74127 or to Memorial Drive United Methodist Church, 7903 E. 15th, Tulsa, OK 74112.
