Velma Cleo Robertson Renfrow, age 102, beloved homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother was born June 9, 1915 in Weatherford, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Amelia Adaline "Ada" Witzel and John Grover "Jack" Robertson. Velma was married December 23, 1937 in Paris, Texas to the late Russell Evan Renfrow for 66 years until his passing in 2003.
She graduated Valedictorian from Weatherford High School in 1932, attended Southwestern State Teachers College and graduated from Hills Business College in Oklahoma City. She worked in the insurance business and was a trailblazer for women in the workplace.
Velma was a Tulsa resident since 1942 and supportive of cultural and civic activities. Velma enjoyed traveling, gourmet cooking and entertaining friends and family. She was an accomplished pianist and had a keen intellect and mind for business, mathematics and enjoyed solving puzzles of any kind. Velma was a past president in 1960 and an active member in the Tulsa Garden Club. She was a member of Boston Avenue Methodist Church, Tulsa.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Edna Myrtle Hawkins. Velma is survived by two children and their spouses, Kent Evan Renfrow and Sheri Smith Renfrow of Tulsa and Gloria Ellen (Renfrow) Cameron and Dr. Stephen G. Cameron of Monkton, Maryland; four grandchildren, Russell Douglas "Rusty" Renfrow and wife, Charlotte "Candy" of Tulsa and Carter Evan Renfrow of Oklahoma City, Dr. Evan Gordon Cameron and wife, Jenna of Palo Alto, California, Ellen Cameron Jones and husband, James of London, England and great granddaughter, Eowyn Cameron Jones and great grandson, Ridley Peter Jones; brother, George Robertson and wife, Shirley of Prairie Village, Kansas.
Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, March 9, 2018 at Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel, 5111 S. Memorial, Tulsa, OK. Memorials may be made to Friends of the Garden Philbrook Art Center or Boston Avenue United Methodist Church, Tulsa. Moore's Southlawn 918-663-2233
