Vennettea Carol "V.C." Garrett, unexpectedly passed away on the night of April 23rd, 2025 at the age of 82 in Tulsa, OK due to complications after falling suddenly very ill. She departed this world on her own terms while surrounded by family. Her loss echoes in the hearts of so many family and friends who loved and cherished her.
Although many would agree that V.C. had more life to live, no one can argue about the very full and abundant life she lived prior to her passing. Born in Davis, OK, she and her family moved a few times from Enid, to Wagoner, then Turley and eventually she ended up in Tulsa, graduating from Central High School. She went on to take a few classes at OSU, where she met her husband Jerry after spotting him in the Student Union and thinking he was just "SO cute". After marriage and kids, V.C. found her passion in a career of real estate, in which she worked for over 60 years, eventually owning and running her own business.
Towards the end of her life, she celebrated over 46 years of sobriety. She spent those years being actively involved in AA and sister organizations and would often remark, "and I don't care who knows it!" Throughout her life, she touched so many lives by walking the walk of what it means to lead a truly selfless and grateful life. She took her daily devotion to gratitude work very seriously and never missed a day sending her gratitude list to her multitude of friends. You could always count on her to remind you of life's blessings and to say, "What if it all works out?"
V.C. was preceded in death by her husband Jerry, her sister Lorena, and her parents Vennettea and John Bounds. She is survived by her sisters Mary Ann and Amanda "Suzy"; her children Kelley, Steve and Brent; her grandchildren, Ashleigh, Madison, Garrett, Alec, Emilee, Jake, Ali, Sophi and Hudson; and her great grandchildren, Garrett, Griffin, Derrik, Reiya, Oliver, Daisy and Teagan. Services to celebrate her life will be held on Friday May 16th, 2025 at 1:00 pm, at Unity of Tulsa - Midtown, 3355 S Jamestown Ave, Tulsa OK, 74135. Please, in lieu of flowers, send a donation in V.C.'s name to A New Leaf.
