Verdia Nell Bruner passed peacefully on October 4 at the age of 98 and went on to be with her Lord. She was born in Idabel, Oklahoma to Leo and Mary Taylor Herdnon (Charles). Verdia was a proud member of the Choctaw Nation, Democrat and a devote Christian. She was a student of Wheelock Academy. Verdia later moved to Tulsa worked as a housekeeper at the Tulsa County Courthouse and retiring from Sheraton Inn Tulsa Airport. She was first married to Thurman Sappington in which they had three children. She later married the love of her life Foster Bruner. Verdia spent the last of her years in Broken Arrow.
Verdia was a devoted, loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mother to Amos DeWayne Sappington, Verdia Grace Sappington Keltner, Donald Ray Sappington, and daughter in law Norma Jean Sappington. She is well be remembered for her berry picking, jam making, gardening, magic cocoa, cooking, jungle of plants, pecans, and most of all her stories. She loved road trips - especially to Durant and Idabel.
Verdia was welcomed into heaven by mother Mary Taylor Herndon (Charles), dad Leo Herndon, husband Foster C Bruner, children Amos, Donald, Verdia Grace, and grandson Tyler Smith. Loved ones she leaves behind is sister Norma Jean Charles Aunko, daughter in law Norma Jean Sappington, grandchildren Legina Keltner Lowry, Delisa Keltner Woodruff, Rexx Keltner, Dawn Michele Sappington Spurlock (David Micheal Spurlock), Angela Jean Sappington, Brandi D'anne Sappington Murray(Robert Murray). Great grandchildren: Levin Lowry, Jacinda Lowry, Porscia Majors, Justin Spurlock, Jarod Spurlock, Donavan Paschal, Corrina Paschal, Candace Paschal, Alyssa Murray, Samantha Murray,and Brooklynn Murray. Great Great Grandchildren DJ Majors, Luther Paschal, Theron Paschal, Kaden Hulse, Mason Smith.
Visitation will be 4PM - 7PM, Monday, October 9, 2023 at Moore's Southlawn, 9350 East 51st Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Service will be 1PM, Tuesday, Octobert 10, 2023 at Moore's Southlawn Chapel.
