Vicki Sheffield Buchan, a spirited adventurer, devoted family woman, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully after a courageous seven-month battle with cancer. Born in Muskogee, OK, and raised as a farmer's daughter in Webbers Falls and Gore, OK, Vicki graduated as valedictorian from Gore High School in 1969 and earned a bachelor's degree with a double major in English and Spanish from Texas Christian University in 1972.
Vicki's passion for exploration led her to a fulfilling career in the travel industry, starting with Delta Airlines and later as a travel agent in Tulsa. Her career allowed her to visit numerous exciting destinations, form lifelong friendships, and meet her beloved husband, John Buchan. They married in July 2001 and shared many wonderful years together.
Vicki is survived by her husband, William John Buchan; daughter Morgan (Jacob) Bice; son James (Allison) Sheffield; stepdaughter Kathryn (Jim) Varden; stepson Ryan (Megan) Buchan; grandchildren Deacon, Josie, and Emery Bice; JR and Callie Sheffield; Claire Varden; Corbin, Barrett, and Taylor Buchan. She is also survived by her mother Minnie Sheffield; sister Peggy Sheffield; and brother Stan (Shelly) Sheffield. Vicki was preceded in death by her father, J.B. Sheffield, and two baby siblings, Robert and Rebecca.
Vicki cherished time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was an avid reader and loved playing tennis and walking with friends at Lafortune Park. She participated in Bible Study Fellowship and was a member of Memorial Baptist Church. Her authenticity, quick wit, and radiant smile left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She will be remembered as a remarkable woman whose life was marked by love, adventure, and a deep dedication to her family.
A celebration of Vicki's life will be held on July 27th at 2:00 PM at Memorial Baptist Church in Tulsa. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory to Clarehouse, where Vicki received compassionate care during the last two months of her life.
