Vida Marie Smith passed away Sunday, March 25, 2018 in Tulsa, OK. She was born in Elmer, Oklahoma on August 3, 1912, to Charles and Minnie (Vernon) Harp as the seventh child of ten siblings. Her family consisted of her father, mother, nine sisters, one brother, and a big farm. She attended high school in Verden, OK where she played basketball. She moved to Norman, OK where she graduated from Norman High School. She was the last living member of her amazing family.
Vida Marie Smith was married to the love of her life William Holmberg for 44 years and to this union, they were blessed with a son named William (Bill). Their wonderful family resided in Anadarko, OK for over 40 years. During this time Vida Marie operated her own beauty shop for five years. Then she became a State Inspector for the Board of Cosmetology for 17 years.
Vida Marie met and married her second husband L. D. Smith in Oklahoma City. They moved to Tulsa after they both retired.
Vida Marie and her family were proud members of Eastside Christian Church for over 30 years in Tulsa, OK. She enjoyed life, family members and many friends. Vida was always there to brighten the lives of others. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and gardening, but her favorite pastime was cooking! Her family called her the "Gourmet Chef". She also loved jewelry and fashion. She was an avid fan of the OU sports teams and Thunder basketball.
She resided at University Village Retirement Center & Assisted Living for the past 5 years. She exercised and walked every day to stay active and she loved playing Bingo. Vida was adored and loved by all who knew her.
She is survived by her son Bill Holmberg, granddaughter Cheryl Holmberg, and grandson Kirk Holmberg all of Tulsa. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
