Obituary

Ruth, as she preferred to be called, was born February 26, 1939. She was the 7th child of Joe and Belle Eddings of Pryor, Oklahoma. Ruth grew up as a preacher's daughter in Pryor, which was a small town, at that time.

Ruth was a straight A student, enjoyed music, performed with two friends as a quartet in high school. Shortly after graduating from high school she met and married George DeShazo, to whom she remained married to for 66 years until her death, December 25, 1923. After her marriage she worked as an executive secretary for Bach & Co. Brokerage firm in Wichita, Kansas. She gave birth to her first child there, Deborah.

George's work took them to Oklahoma, where a second child was born, Angela. Shortly thereafter, George left his work and using the GI Bill and some small savings, Ruth and George completed their education to become school teachers. While still at Northeastern in Tahlequah, OK, Ruth was blessed with her third daughter, Karen. Ruth taught for 26 years. The majority of her teaching was for 5th graders in Tulsa Public Schools.

Ruth loved her church and enjoyed singing in the choir and occasionally singing with smaller group or solo. She served the church for many years as long as she was able. Ruth also enjoyed her sewing group and loved to make quilts.

Ruth was a treasure that will be missed!
