Viola Atchley Kennett, 87, born in Fairland, OK on July 25, 1936, to Susan Gertie Bartley and John Granville Atchley; passed peacefully, March 18, 2024, in Tulsa, OK, surrounded by family.

Preceded in death by her parents, her four brothers; John Henry, William, Stacy and Dean. Vi is survived by her daughter Paige, son in law Charles, her two sisters Marj and Ann, along with brother-in-laws Billy and Dan. Also survived by her six grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews.

Vi attended Pryor schools in her childhood. Graduated from NEO in 1957 with an Associates of Engineering, where she met her late husband James R. Kennett. They married August 31, 1957. After having Paige, Vi earned her B.S in Secondary Math and Science from TU in 1969.

Vi, James, and Paige traveled for James's work, living in a multitude of exotic locations. Her favorite location was Paris, France between the years 1974-1976, where they were able to experience most of the European continent during that time. Vi taught in Tulsa Public Schools for 31 years before her retirement. She was an avid sports fan, OU Fanatic, cheer coach at Tulsa Central H.S. and proud Mimi. Mimi enjoyed all sporting events of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, most of all baseball. Vi became a certified umpire, scoring the highest in that year, keeping her own personal score books at her grandson's baseball games. Mimi was fiercely supportive, opinionated, and lovingly the loudest fan at each game her grandchildren, and great grandchildren played.

Vi was a faithful member of the First Christian Church, serving as Deacon for many years. In her final days, Vi loved visits from former students, colleagues, her daughter and her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She touched many lives and will be truly missed.
