Viola "Vi" was born 91 years ago, on November 9, 1924, in Maple River Township, Michigan, to parents John E. and Anna Z. (Parkey) Boda, and was the ninth of 10 children. She passed away Friday, March 18, 2016 in Tulsa, OK. When Vi entered elementary school, she and her family moved to Pellston, Michigan, where she continued to live until H.S. graduation. She later moved to Piedmont, Michigan, to enter St. Michael's Convent, intent on becoming a nun.
However, shortly before taking her final vows, Vi ended her path to sisterhood believing she had a higher calling of becoming a wife and mother, and so moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan, where she worked at the lunch counter at Alexander's Drug as a soda fountain jerk. It was there that she met and later married the love of her life, David A. Warren. The two enjoyed 63 years together while raising eight rambunctious children, living in Whitmore Lake, Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor, Michigan; as well as Cypress, Texas; Broken Arrow and Tulsa, Oklahoma.
While Vi's favorite job was always in caring for her large family, she worked tirelessly at a variety of positions through the years as a nurse assistant, x-ray assistant, clothing store clerk and assembly line worker. Vi was also a devout Catholic, and enjoyed her last several years as a choir member at Broken Arrow's Saint Anne Catholic Church where she received much love and support as Alzheimer's slowly took her from us all.
Vi was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, and is survived by her husband Dave (Tulsa), son Dave and daughter-in-law Karma, (Wichita); daughter Ann and son-in-law John Helinski (Tulsa); daughter Kathy (Catoosa); son Eric and daughter-in-law Mary (Beggs); Mike and daughter-in-law Debbie (Catoosa); and sons John (Tulsa), Allan (Oklahoma City) and Rob (Tulsa). Also surviving Vi are 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Vi will be lovingly remembered by all her family and friends, who will also be forever grateful to have experienced her cheerful disposition, impish giggle and warm embrace.
