Obituary

Violet June Parkhurst, 86, was born on October 28, 1933 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Argil Paul and Francis Marion Carriger Busby. She passed away on Thursday, July 23rd, 2020 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
June grew up in Corpus Christi, TX and then El Reno, OK as her family followed her father's job with Phillips 66. June graduated from Crooked Oak High School class of 1951. She received her career training as secretary shortly after graduation. Her first job was with Gulf Oil in Oklahoma City where she met her husband and they moved to Champaign, IL. While in Champaign, they welcomed their son Melvin. June eventually worked as a secretary at the University of Illinois until she moved back to Oklahoma with her son in 1979. When she returned to Oklahoma, they made their home in Glenpool. June worked for numerous companies over the years until she went back to school to earn her Bachelor's degree in Business. She started at the old UCAT campus in downtown Tulsa and then transferred to Northeastern State University campus in Broken Arrow. While earning her degree she also worked as a secretary to Dr. R. Henry Migliore. June was very proud of being a professional secretary and that could be seen during her extracurricular actives, such as Keystone Toastmasters club, which she enjoyed immensely. She was a longtime member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tulsa in which she had a very large church family. She was active in the Women's Quilting Circle, Church Choir, and Tulsa Area Lutheran Handel's Messiah each Christmas season. She always talked about her grandsons with the love only a grandmother could give.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother and his family, sister Lois, and her son Melvin.
Surviving family include her daughter-in-law Marci of Tulsa, her grandsons Christian of Tulsa, Sebastian and nephew Greg King of Topeka, KS; along with her very close family friends Bruce and Natalie Torkelson and Chris, Barbara and Scott Christmann.
