Virgil O. Burba, 89, died Saturday, October 24, 2015. Virgil was born December 12, 1925 to Samuel E. and Euola Catherine (Elder) Burba, in Tuttle, Oklahoma.

After graduating from Farmington High School in Arkansas, he enlisted in the US Navy; he then attended Oklahoma A&M and graduated in 1948 with a Bachelor Science Degree in Dairy Science. Virgil married Helen (Coffield) on August 14, 1946 in Winfield, Kansas and they spent 70 wonderful loving years together.

Virgil was an avid golfer, was a long time member at Meadowbrook Country Club in Tulsa, and loved following Oklahoma State University sports. He worked at the City County Health Department for 29 years as a supervisor of the dairy division. After his retirement, one of his greatest enjoyments was to caddy on the LPGA tour for his daughter Janice.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Donald Burba. He is survived by his wife, Helen; his son, Rick Burba, his wife, Janet; his daughter, Janice Gibson, her husband, David. Grandchildren: Christopher Burba, his wife Elizabeth; Jessica Gibson Wilson, her husband, Christopher. Great-grandchildren: Caleb, Adi and Isaac Burba. Also survived by his brother: Foster & Shirley Burba, Louisville, Kentucky; uncle, Jack and Irene Elder, Norman, Oklahoma; his sister-in-law, Daisy Coffield; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will greet friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday, October 29, 2015, at Moore's Southlawn Chapel, 9350 East 51st Street.
