Obituary

Daughter of Mary Louise Allen and Richard A. Hittson, CLU, born July 14, 1926 at Seton Infirmary Austin, Texas. She was the granddaughter of Mr. & Mrs. George W. Allen of Austin and Mr. & Mrs. William Thomas Hittson of Cisco, Texas.

Survivors include son Charles Roy Bigbie, III & wife Glenda Bigbie and daughter Mary Elizabeth Bigbie, granddaughters: Angela Louise Bigbie & Cheryl Elizabeth Bigbie and step-granddaughter Karen Baker.

When Mary Beth attended Barnard School her mother and another friend were teachers of the Blue Bird grays. After Lee Elementary, Horace Mann and Central High, she attended the University of Texas where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Fraternity. She was President of "Orchis," Honorary Dance Club and member of U.T. Sports Association. She was a Blackbonnet Belle nominee and dance soloist at the "Roundup." She rode on a float in the "Roundup" parade as a mermaid. She was a substitute teacher for the Modern Dance Class at U.T. Then to New York City to study at Ballet Arts Studio with Edward Caton, Boris Romanov and Agnes de Mille. She was on stage at the Metropolitan Opera for 75 performances.

Then in Tulsa, she taught a class at Philbrook Art Museum in Modern Dance. At St. John's Episcopal Church she taught Vacation Bible School, belonged to "Daughters of the King" and the "Altar Guild" at St. John's. She was a charter member of The Tulsa Opera Guild, The Ballet Guild, Garden Club and several bridge clubs. She enjoyed modeling fashionable clothes at the Tulsa Club luncheons and enjoyed traveling and cruising with a group of Travel grays. She was a "Cover Girl" on the Florist Magazine wearing her wedding gown and carrying a Bridal bouquet of white orchids and lilies. One summer she danced in a pre-Broadway musical "Live a Little" at the John Drew Little Theatre in East Hampton, N.Y.
