Services for Virginia Lovelyn Warterfield Carlson 97, former Tulsa Kindergarten teacher for 28 years at Springdale, Hoover, Key and native Tulsan will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday April 5 at Moore's Southlawn Chapel. Mrs Carlson died Monday March 31 in Florida where she has lived t the last three years.
Born Jan 12, 1917 to Clara and Elgin Warterfield in Indiaola, Ok, she attended school at Kendall, Wilson, and Tulsa Central. She attended college for 2 years at William Woods in Fulton, Mo before graduating from Tulsa University. She was married to Donald Carlson in 1938 who preceded her in death in 1998.
She is survived by a brother Jack Warterfield of Tulsa, 2 children Donna Hoskins of Summerfield, Florida and Kenneth Carlson of Glendale, Arizona, 4 grandchildren David Hoskins, Kathryn Patterson, Matthew Carlson, and Dee Kee. She was a member of Boston Avenue Methodist Church, Kappa Delta, Alpha Delta Kappa and was elected the first State President of Oklahoma Kindergarten Teachers Association. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
