Virginia Marion Hugo, 99, of Broken Arrow, passed away Friday, November 3, 2023. She was born July 20, 1924, in Boston, MA. Virginia, to Sebastian Gahm and Marion (Hoyt) Gahm, and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Upon her discharge she attended Spartan School of Aeronautics and later attended the University of Tulsa. She was an engineer, an avid gardener, and had a passion for saving un-adoptable cats. She was active in several local cat rescues in her retirement years. She was a fashion designer and seamstress in the 1960's-70's. She was a personal seamstress to actress and philanthropist, Peggy Dow (Helmerich). Virginia worked for White Shield Oil Company and then owned her own oil technical/consulting business until the mid-nineties when she retired. Virginia and her late husband, Adolph Hugo, Jr. built a WWI bi-plane replica "Aurelia" in the 1960's and flew in for many years. It is on display at the Tulsa Air and Space Museum. She is survived by her brother, Philip Gahm and his wife Wanda of Mechanicsville, VA; her niece Shirley Kongs and husband Bill Kongs of Broken Arrow, OK; her nephew Barry Williams and wife Susan Williams of Plano, TX ; her niece Keeley Ricks and husband Sean Ricks of Melbourne, FL; her nephew Travis Gahm of Boise, ID; her niece Debra Estes and husband along with two great-nieces and one great-nephew of Dallas TX; her great nephew Ryan Williams and his wife Lauren Sullivan of Michigan; her great-niece Allison Befort and her husband Chis Befort along with two great-great nephews and one great-great niece of Oklahoma City OK; her great nephew Jacob Turner of Wilton FL, great niece Maya Nicolaus and husband Andrew of Fairfax, Va; her great-nephew Andrew Kongs and his wife Alison Maskus of Normal, IL
She was preceded in death by her husband, Adolph Hugo, Jr.; her sister, Priscilla Gahm. Memorial contributions may be made to Tulsa Air and Space Museum.
