Vivian (Jones) Kidd was born on April 19, 1933 at home on a farm in Stone Bluff, Oklahoma. She was the youngest of seven children born to Harry and Oza (Wallace) Jones. She graduated from Bixby High School in 1950, then attended business school for a year. Afterward she worked as the assistant to the superintendent of Bixby Public Schools. In 1953 she went to work at Douglas Aircraft where she met her first husband, Harland Strauss, they were married in Bixby in 1957. They were members of Will Rogers Methodist Church. They were happily blessed with their daughter, Julie Strauss, in 1959. Harland passed away with cancer in 1962.
Vivian married Roy A. Kidd in 1965 and gained 4 step-sons, Scott, Bryan, Jeffery and Todd. Vivian and Roy were active members of Tulsa Baptist Temple since 1968 where they enjoyed many close friendships and activities. They were members of the Early Ford V8 Club taking many trips with the group in their old Ford. They were members of the Oklahoma Air National Guard Retirees Association (Silver Beavers). Vivian also served on the Board of Directors for the Golden Eagle Federal Credit Union for 19 years. She volunteered as a precinct worker during many elections; she also enjoyed attending the Auxiliary Police Academy program. She was an active member of the MDT Retirees Club where she was in charge of the newsletter for many years.
Vivian and Roy enjoyed playing bridge every weekend with their best friends; they also enjoyed many cross-country road trips with them as well. Vivian's love and compassion for animals began at an early age as she grew up on a farm. Throughout the years she rescued many strays in her neighborhood and always enjoyed the close companionship of her "fur babies."
Vivian is proceeded in death by her first husband, "Harley"; parents, Harry and Oza Jones; siblings, Van Jones, Thelma Smith, Jeanette Johnson, Dave Jones, Fay Benson; step-sons, Scott Kidd and Jeffery Kidd. She is survived by her loving husband, Roy A. Kidd; beloved daughter, Julie Strauss; sister, Nerrine Danford and many precious nieces and nephews. Vivian was very generous with her love and a "second mother" to many. She is so missed by her family and friends. Her passing has left a hole in the lives of all who loved her that only she can fill.
