Obituary

Vivian Louise Curtis Paynter, born on December 25, 1922, in Chanute, Kansas, died on December 18, 2021 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She came to Tulsa as a young adult, met and eventually married Norman Van Curtis on August 6, 1942. They raised three children, Pamela Louise, Barbara Dean and Van Nicolas.

Besides being a homemaker, Vivian assisted Norman in his various businesses throughout the years and was active in the Tulsa Garden Club. After the accidental death of her husband in January 1966, Vivian ventured into the business world, as her three children were grown and established in their own lives. She met and later married James C. Paynter and was involved in his business interests.

Vivian was a kind, strong-willed and supportive wife and mother. She met challenges in life with confidence and good humor. She enjoyed travel with her family and spent time at area lakes during summer months. In later life, she spent summer months on the Upper Peninsula of Michigan on Lake Superior and traveled to Europe for a glimpse of life on another continent.

She was admired and loved by friends and family and will be greatly missed by surviving son, Van Curtis, and daughter, Pamela Curtis McConahy. Daughter Barbara died due to the COVID-19 virus in November 2020. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Wendy & Darin Davis, the children of Barbara Davis Raley.

Graveside service has been set for 1:00 PM Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Memorial Park Cemetery.
