Obituary

Vivian Joy Stanley, 89, was called to our Lord on Friday November 8, 2024, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Vivian was born January 12, 1935 in Miller, South Dakota to Roy and Lola Campbell.

Vivian moved with her family to Seattle in 1951. While working in the airline industry she was transferred to Tulsa where she met her future husband James, with whom she raised two sons. Vivian was involved in all their activities, including baseball scorekeeper and superfan at hockey games. Her enthusiasm continued to the next generation; you would find her cheering on her grandsons at baseball, basketball, and hockey games, as well as attending her granddaughter's pom, piano, and dance recitals.

Vivian was employed by Cities Service/Occidental Petroleum, but her primary role was raising her sons and caring for other children. She worked in her church nursery for over 45 years and cared for hundreds of children, who lovingly referred to her as "Grandma Viv". She was a permanent fixture in the lives of many families and a positive influence on those seeking her guidance. Her greatest joy was seeing them succeed.

Vivian never met a stranger. Her faith, selflessness, and character led her to help anyone regardless of the circumstances.

Vivian is survived by her sons David Stanley and wife Cheri of Owasso, OK, Douglas Stanley and wife Gene Ann of Frederick, MD, grandchildren Austin Stanley of Tulsa, OK, Michael Stanley of Frederick, MD, Alex Stanley and wife Taryn of Muskogee, OK, sisters Maxine Ensign of Kelso, WA, Ardella DeLapp of Black Diamond, WA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James R. Stanley, granddaughter Stephanie Stanley, siblings Marion Carson, Genevieve Rearich, Evelyn Moser, Clifford Campbell, Leslie Campbell, Larry Campbell and twin brother Vernon Campbell.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Loaves and Fishes Ministries or Doctors without Borders charities. Family will greet friends from 4 pm to 7 pm at Moore's Southlawn Chapel, Wednesday, November 13, 2024. Service will be held at 10 am Thursday, November 14, 2024, at HomeChurch,720 W New Orleans, Broken Arrow, OK.

Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Tulsa, OK.
