Obituary

William Leonard Shoultz, 85, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 31, 2015, due to complications from cancer and an infection.

He was born in Coy, Alabama, on April 5, 1929, to Lilly Mae and James Melton Shoultz. He graduated from Vinita High School and continued his education at Tulsa Business College, graduating with an associate's degree in business administration. He also took additional coursework at Tulsa University. He married Mary Kathryn Johnson of Vinita, Oklahoma, on July 18, 1952.

He joined the Marines in 1950 and served in the Korean War. Following the war, he went to work for Avis-rent-a car. In 1962, he received a promotion and was transferred to Long Island, New York, where he rose in the organization to become a senior vice president. He and Mary returned to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he headed up the Tulsa reservation center. He retired from Avis-rent-a-car in 1985. In retirement, he and Mary spent many years in full time work assisting mission organizations and volunteering in their church.

Leonard was an active member of Tulsa Bible Church. He loved to travel and visited Israel several times. He was a member of the Christian organization, the Navigators, and volunteered with the Billy Graham evangelistic association. He loved to tell a good joke and bring joy into the lives of everyone he met. He was generous with everything he had including his time, abilities, and money.

Leonard is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Mary Kathryn, his three sons and their wives, or as Leonard liked to call them, his three daughters in love; David Glenn and his wife Jennifer of Washington, DC, Daniel Earl and his wife Patty of Columbia, SC, and Donald Curtis and his wife Leigh Ann of Houston, TX.
