Wallace "Wally" Wells Loerch passed from this earth, surrounded by his beloved wife of 73 years and three daughters, and went to be with Jesus on August 18, 2026, at the age of 95. Wally was born in Tekamah, NE, to Harvey Arthur and Eleanor Bernice (Wells) Loerch on April 17, 1931. On July 5, 1953, he married the little sister of his best friend from high school and love of his life, Orpha "Ruth" Morrow. Together with Ruth, he proceeded to live life to the fullest, right up to the moment he graduated to glory. With an ever ready smile and a sweet and silly humor, he was a kind, generous, gentle, and loving friend to all and an inspiration, father figure, and role model to many.

He graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1953 with a B.S. in Business Administration. While at UNL, he was a member of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity and the Beta Sigma Psi business fraternity. He began active duty in the Infantry in 1954. He was a lifelong member of the University of Nebraska Alumni Association and ardent supporter of the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Frequently seen wearing Cornhusker apparel, including his signature red pants, he and Ruth organized and hosted watch parties and events for the Oklahoma Cornhusker Club for many years.

He was a man who dedicated himself fully to the things to which he was committed. After a year with Arthur Anderson & Company, he worked for Phillip G. Johnson & Company for 30 years, starting part-time in college and eventually completing his CPA certificate and becoming a partner, a career that took him and his family from Chicago, IL to Lincoln, Kearney, and Fremont, NE. For the last 30 years, he worked with Morse & Company in Tulsa, OK, continuing to do tax returns until the day Jesus brought him home. He is probably getting ready to file tax extensions for Joseph and Mary at this very moment. In June, he was honored by the Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants for 40 Years of Fellow Membership. This follows the 22 years he was a member of the Nebraska Society of Certified Public Accountants.

He was a faithful servant of God and a true example of the living Word. As a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church, he served as an ordained Elder and in many other lay leadership positions. His main contribution to the church was through the music ministry. He was a 40-year member of the choir at John Knox Presbyterian Church, which included time playing with the bell choir, following a history of singing in the choir of every church he has attended since childhood. Outside of church, he continued his passion for singing as a 55-year member of the Barbershop Harmony Society (formerly SPEBSQSA). He was a charter member of the Fremont Pathfinder Chorus for 14 years before joining the Tulsa Founders Chorus 40 years ago, which inducted him into the Barbershop Hall of Fame. In February, the Founders Chorus, the very first chapter to form in the Barbershop Harmony Society, created the Wally Loerch Lifetime Service Award and named him the first recipient for exemplary service and unwavering commitment to the chorus. With the Barbershop Harmony Society, Wally sang in many quartets and found his calling as a true showman and entertainer.

Wally's many other contributions to his neighborhood and the community include: 74 years as a Masonic Lodge member and member of the Eastern Star, member of the American Legion, volunteering and serving on the Board of his Homeowners Association, many hours and gallons of blood donated to the Red Cross, volunteering and serving on the Board of Neighbors Along the Line, and being initiated as an Honorary Girl Scout by the troop leader of his three daughters' Girl Scout troops - Ruth.

Wally is survived by his wife, Orpha "Ruth" Loerch; daughters: Luan Loerch-Wilson, Kay Loerch (Mark Ryan), and Kristine Ulrichson (Robert); grandchildren: Tessa Erickson, Kathleen Ryan, Dustin Ulrichson (Kelly), and Peter Ulrichson; great grandchildren: Leeland and Oliver Erickson, and Reagan and Logan May. He is also survived by brothers-in-law: Clark Morrow (Norma), Edward Morrow (Diana), Leslie Morrow (Jean), and many, many beloved nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Robin, Karl, and Russel.
