Walt Prater, 74, passed away July 31, 2022 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Born March 5, 1948 in Bethesda, Maryland to Walter Henry Prater and Gertrude Cecilia Beal Prater.
Mr. Prater was in Quality Assurance Inspector for Rockwell, Boeing and finally Spirit AeroSystems. He was a US Army Veteran, having served 2 tours in Vietnam.
Due to his military upbringing, his childhood life was spent traveling to different countries. He got to see a lot of the world at a young age. Spending part of his youth in California, he liked to skip school and go surfing. As his boys grew up he was an avid fisherman. Every Saturday he would hurry to finish yard work to head to Keystone Lake. There they would all enjoy skiing and boating. On Sundays, you betcha he'd be in church ready to lead a prayer. Later in life, He liked to ride his Harley with Linda throughout the region. His love for wheels continued on,showing his classic cars at area car shows was one of his staring moments with the best cars.
He was a long time member of the 10th and Rockford Church of Christ and in recent years was a member of the North Heights Church of Christ.
He is survived by wife Linda K. Prater; sons Ray Prater (Raina) of Kiefer, Richard Prater (Melissa) of Sand Springs, Robert Prater (Maggie) of Tulsa; stepdaughters Jennie Page of Tulsa, Julie Jandebeur Broken Arrow; grandchildren Madison Page, Emori Prater, Megan Prater, Mackenzie Prater, Samuel Prater, Camden Prater, Cole Prater, Ruston Jandebeur, Sawyer Prater; great granddaughter Gracie McGuire; and 3 sisters Karen Johnson (Bob), Phyliss O'Farrell (John), Linda Myers, all of California; and his former spouse and mother of his 3 sons, Paula Prater.

Funeral service will be 2PM, Thursday, August 4, 2022 at Moore's Southlawn Chapel, 9350 East 51st Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
A private interment will take place later at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery.
