On Sunday September 10, 2017, Walter Lee Wright, husband, daddy, grandpa, and brother passed away at the age of 78 from complications of Alzheimer's. Walter, a native Oklahoman, was born April 9, 1939 in Hulbert, OK or as he always said "I was born all up and down 14 Mile Creek". His parents were Charley and Zona Wright. Walter was the youngest son of 9 children.
After attending Wagoner High School, he enlisted in The United States Army and served for 3 years. While in the Army, he met the love of his life and best friend Margie Lee McDaniel. After the Army, he attended Oklahoma State University. Walter and Margie married August 30,1963 and had two beautiful children. Walter was employed for many years as a manager of TG&Y and Woolworth's, and eventually retired from Sam's Club. He was a long time member of South Lakewood Baptist church in Tulsa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, and 1 sister. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Margie, his 2 children Kim Wright Barr (Mike), Kevin Lane Wright (Tracy), his beloved grandchildren Eric Barr and his wife Lauren, Jeffrey Barr, Aaron Wilson, Allie Wright and 3 sisters Norma Briggs, Wanda Rice and Betty Fenton.
But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, the will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31.
Visitation will be 6-8 PM, Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Moore's Southlawn, 9350 E. 51st, Tulsa, OK. Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at South Lakewood Baptist Church, 6108 E. 20th St., Tulsa, OK. Moore's Southlawn 918-663-2233
