IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Walter Kelly
Turnage
January 9, 1952 – March 4, 2026
Walter "Kelly" Turnage, 74, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2026, in Tulsa. He was born January 9, 1952, in Tulsa to Lestel Kelly Turnage and Cathryn June (Johnson) Turnage. He was raised alongside his sister, Mickey Toney, and his younger brother, Phillip Turnage.
Kelly attended the University of Tulsa where he studied as a music major. Music remained a lifelong passion for him. He played the violin, bass guitar, and keyboard and loved sharing the joy of music with those around him.
Kelly worked as an optician and owned Optical Reflections before later working for LensCrafters. He was also a private pilot and proudly served as a member and of the Jaycees.
Kelly loved enjoying life and the people around him. He enjoyed playing pool, singing karaoke, and spending time laughing with family and friends. Recently, he took a cruise with his son Kragen, creating memories that will always be cherished. Above all else, Kelly was a loving father and grandfather. His children and grandchildren meant everything to him, and he loved them with his entire being.
To his daughter Jenny, he was the kind of dad who was always there no matter what. His laughter, jokes, and easygoing spirit filled every room he walked into. Some of the best memories were the simple ones-sharing a beer, taking a shot of 1800 with pineapple back, and listening to him sing karaoke. Those moments will forever be treasured and deeply missed.
He is survived by his sons, Jason Kelly Turnage and his wife Jeanne Turnage, and Kragen Turnage and his wife Cassie Rae Turnage; his daughter, Jenny Elizabeth Turnage Stockton and her husband Ronald Stockton; and his beloved grandchildren, Kaylin Marie Turnage, Elizabeth Chaylynn Matthews, Kinzie Grace Turnage, Josiah Ladale Henderson, Hezekiah Kragen Henderson, Claire Elise Turnage, Gerrimiah Emmanuel Henderson, Elijah Jacob Henderson, Matthew Ryan Turnage, Malachi Isaiah Parker, and Everly Lyly Joy Lascano.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date from Kragen Turnage.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Kelly's memory to the Anerican Heart Association at heart.org. For those wishing to assist the family with expenses, contributions may also be made directly to Jenny Elizabeth Turnage-Stockton or Kragen Turnage.
Kelly will be remembered for his laughter, his music, and the way he could turn an ordinary moment into a memory worth holding onto.
