Wanda June Lawson (nee Largent) passed from this life June 25th, 2023 at St. Francis Hospital after a brief illness. June, as she was known to family and friends, was a wife of seventy-two years, a mother of three children, and a grandmother of four. June lived and worked in Tulsa since the end of World War II.

June was born in 1928 in Booneville, Arkansas, to Claude Christopher and Bessie Lura (nee Amos) Largent. She lived in Arkansas until her family moved to Oklahoma in 1930, before moving in 1934 to Stigler, where she spent most of her youth. June was the youngest of a family of four, her siblings were Marie, Amos and Joyce. They moved to Tulsa in 1945, where June lived with her family until her marriage. She graduated from Central High School in 1947, and then she worked in various secretarial jobs. She married Oliver Roy Lawson on July 29, 1950.

They moved to their first home at 3736 S. Louisville in Tulsa in 1954. Their first born, Christopher Mark (Chris), was born in 1954, followed by Russell Matthew (Russ) in 1957 and Laura Susan in 1964. Oliver and June raised their family in the Disciples of Christ denomination and were long-time members of Yale Avenue Christian Church in Tulsa. June was a stay-at-home Mom until the late 1960s, when she began working at the various jobs in Tulsa, until retiring from the Tulsa County Land Department in 1991.

After raising a family June and Oliver retired and did various activities including travel and cruises across America, to Europe, and South America. June and Oliver were avid square dancers for 40 years and were also active in round dancing. June actively participated in Christian women's groups, book clubs and exercise groups until recently. She liked making clothes, gardening, playing bunco, traveling with church and square-dance groups, reading, watching television, and spending time with her grandchildren.

June was preceded in death by her father Claude, mother Bess, brother Amos, sister Marie, sister Joyce, and daughter Laura. She is survived by her husband Oliver, sons Chris and Russ, daughters-in-law Linda and Elizabeth, granddaughter Kristen, and grandsons Ben, Dave, and Riley.

Visitation will be 5PM - 7PM, Thursday, June 29, 2023 at Moore's Southlawn Chapel, 9350 East 51st Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Funeral Service will be 11AM, Friday, June 30, 2023 at Yale Avenue Christian Church, 3616 South Yale, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
