Obituary

Wanda Farris Lightle was born on November 24, 1944, in Gore, Oklahoma to Justin Beel and Ruby House Beel. They lived in Gore for a few years and then relocated to Henryetta, Oklahoma where Wanda and her five siblings grew up. Wanda had two sisters and three brothers.

Wanda got married young and moved to California with her new husband, Tom Finch. Tom was in the Navy which took them to the San Diego area. After Tom got out of the military they came back to Oklahoma where they lived in Henryette. Wanda and Tom had one son, Douglas Thomas Finch. Tom and Wanda went their separate ways and later Wanda married Jerry H Lightle. They were married for over forty years. Jerry adopted Doug. Wanda was very involved in Doug's life. She went to all his school events. Wanda loved her little family and always had dinner on the table when they came home from work.

Wanda started working as a waitress after her and Jerry got married. Later she went to work for a Garden Nursery, she really enjoyed growing flowers. She finally went to work in manufacturing, making radar guns for law enforcement.

Wanda was very family minded. She took in a couple of her nieces at different times and helped raise them. When her mom was sick, coming to the end of life, Wanda would drive down to Henryetta every day to care for her mother. She did that for over two years. Wanda and Jerry loved going to Colorado and enjoyed being in the mountains. She enjoyed camping and loved to go lake fishing. Wanda loved to garden; whether she was growing flowers or vegetables for the family. She enjoyed taking care of the yard. Anything that took her outside was seen as a great event for Wanda.

Wanda enjoyed knitting and sewing. She would make dolls out of fabric for the kids. She was involved in her church over the years. Wanda had a very difficult time after the passing of her son, Doug. She then lost her husband to death in 2018, and that was another hard time. Wanda was thankful for her brother, David Summers who moved in around 2017 to care for her and her husband.

Wanda passed away peacefully in her home on February 18, 2025, with her brother by her side at the age of 80.

Wanda is survived by her brother David Summers and a sister Joy Dureson; also numerous nieces and nephews. Wanda was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Lightle; her son Douglas Thomas Lightle; her parents Justin Beel and Ruby Beel; her two brothers Jerry Beel and Jimmy Beel; her sister Mary Ellen Beel.
