Wanda Maxwell, 92, of Tulsa, OK, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, January 5, 2024. She was born on Friday, April 24, 1931, in Seminole, OK, to Lester Bowman and Gladys Ruby (Dwyer) Bowman. Wanda was a member of Midtown Church of Christ, formerly, 29th & Yale Church of Christ, and she was a chef for Tulsa Public Schools.
Wanda served in a way that her relationship with and dependence in Christ, was evident to all that knew her. She was exceptionally generous to others with her time, care and love. She had a gift of hospitality, was an excellent cook and was known for her great fried chicken and baking her family's favorite pies. Wanda loved people, had a kind, generous, giving spirit and was known as "The Candy Lady," at Heatherridge Assisted Living. She exemplified grace and love towards everyone and in everything she did. Wanda valued her relationships with friends and family and, especially; enjoyed babysitting her grandkids and others.
Wanda was predeceased by her parents; husband, Floyd Maxwell; brothers, Jimmy Bowman, Billy Bowman, Richard Bowman, and Clinton Bowman; and sister, Peggy Harviston and granddaughter Brylee Carter.
Wanda is survived by her daughter, Vergie Carter and husband, Jay, our children, Valerie Von Schlegell, Jason Carter, Joe Carter; Valerie's children Zan and Allia, Jason's children Bayleigh, Brooke, Brylee (Brylee passed 1-19-2021), Blakelyn, and Ben, Joe's children Kaden and Amaya. Clifford Maxwell and wife, Song of Clermont, FL; their three children Emily, Mary, and Cindy; Emily's children Renae and Lily, Mary's children JJ and Max, Cindy's children Dylan, Emma, and Owen, then the great-great-grandchildren from Renae, Jaycie and Huxley is on the way; Brother, Leon Bowman; sisters, Joy Ann Jones-Warehime and husband, Eugene, Karen Harviston and husband, Don, and LaDonna Harris and husband, Ralph; and a lifetime of friends.
