Wanda Lee LaVern Porter was born on March 15, 1932 in Dardanelle, Arkansas and married Carley Benjamin Porter on May 14, 1948.
Wanda lived for her family. She planted large gardens so she could can and freeze the fruits of her labor to nourish and share with her family. She was so proud of her three children, Carlene, Rodney and Marsha, and what beautiful families they each had. She had strong faith and a very competitive spirit. Many evenings were filled playing cards, dominoes or pegs and jokers with the fun of the game only out measured by spending the time with family. She loved to read, complete word puzzles and listen to classic country music with a little Herb Albert thrown in for spice. Her fondest memories were of family gatherings at Easter hiding eggs over and over again for her high energy grandchildren and great-grandchildren to find. She loved planning a huge Thanksgiving menu and asking each family member to bring their dish of deliciousness. Hours of eating and laughter filled her home at the holidays and she treasured every moment. She especially enjoyed two cruises to the Caribbean where family fun in the sand and on the boat filled her with limitless joy and the opportunity to add to her huge turtle collection. Her heart finally wore out, but the love and happiness she shared with family will never fade.
