Wanda Lou Townley, 87, of Tulsa, OK, passed away from this life on Friday, August 13, 2021, and into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born on Tuesday, December 5, 1933, in Hartford, AR, to Willis Bryan Leatherwood and Pearl Marie (Blackard) Leatherwood.
Wanda attended school at Hartford and Ft. Smith, AR schools. She married Paul Edward Townley in 1953 and when he passed away on April 1, 1982, she remained single for 23 years. In 2005, she married David Alexander Jones, and they were married 8 years, until he passed away, in 2013.
Wanda was a faithful member of Sand Springs Assembly of God church, and in later years, attended Glad Tidings Assembly of God church, until arthritis in her back and knees prevented her from standing and sitting too long.
Wanda was always a hard worker. She worked various jobs and concession jobs, but, spent most of her working years in the dry-cleaning business, and retired from Yale Cleaners in Tulsa, OK, in 1995.
She enjoyed her many years of retirement, going on bus trips with friends, and for many years, Wanda and several of her friends would meet every week for lunch. She kept an immaculate home, and very much enjoyed being at home. She also liked to drive herself to the grocery store to pick out fresh vegetables. Wanda enjoyed the salad bar at Jason's Deli as much as possible. She also still cooked her own meals. She had a keen, sharp mind and was a master at working crossword puzzles. Wanda was an avid fan of "Gunsmoke" and liked to go to the Tulsa State Fair. She enjoyed southern gospel music, and going to gospel music singings. She enjoyed the Gaither Vocal Band and many other gospel singers.
Wanda is survived by her sister, Bessie Burrows of Hartford, AR; brother, R. B. Leatherwood of Ft. Smith AR; and many nieces and nephews, who love her and will miss her.
Wanda was preceded in death by parents; husbands, Paul Townley, and David Jones; sister, Lorene Leatherwood Berryhill and her husband, David; brothers, Tommy, Jimmy Gene and Sonny [Laverne] Leatherwood; and a lifetime of friends.
