On Thursday, July 9, 2015, the most incredible husband, father, "Dadoo,' son and brother went to his home in Heaven.
Warren "Dink" Henry was born June 3, 1946 to James H. and Lola Henry. Dink spent his childhood in Sapulpa, Oklahoma where he made many wonderful memories with family and friends. After graduating from Sapulpa High School, he attended Northeastern State College in Tahlequah where he met his wife, Gwen. They were married July 3, 1965.
In 1966, he felt his call to help defend the country he so loved and joined the United States Navy during the Vietnam War Era. Dink was the consummate salesman and spent his career in industrial sales. Not having completed his education after his return to civilian life, he returned to NSU and in 1993 obtained his bachelor's degree.
He touched the lives of all around him – be it family, friends, work associates or customers. By taking the time to really get to know them he made them feel special. He had a sense of humor that was unmatched and was always at the ready with one of his witty sayings. He faced the adversity of his illness with his humor and a positive attitude, making it easier for those of us who loved him to face each day with hope.
He had a love for his family that was unsurpassed and we will miss that assurance that no matter what the circumstance, you are loved. He is survived by Gwen, his wife of 50 years; son Phil; grandchildren Philip, Morgan, Jake and John Thomas Henry; mother, Lola Henry; sister, Jill Riley; and his faithful companion, Jack. Dink was predeceased by his son, John F. Henry; father, James H. Henry; brother, Johnny David Henry; and nephew, Johnny David Henry II.
Services to celebrate Dink's life will be held Wednesday, July 15, at 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church, 4th and Detroit. Graveside services afterward at Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the John F. Henry Memorial Research Fund, University of Oklahoma Foundation, Inc., 100 Timberdell Road, Norman, OK 73019 or online at
