Obituary

Wesley C. Farabough was born April 27, 1922, at Nardin, Oklahoma, to Dow Farabough and Agnes Pomeranke Farabough. He died at home on July 11, 2017, at the age of 95.

Wesley was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie, his parents and his brothers, Ballard, Herbert, LeRoy, and Robert.

Wesley attended 1st through 8th grade at Nardin, Oklahoma, and graduated Blackwell High School. After graduation, he worked at Stearman and Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas until World War II. One of the last surviving greatest generation veterans, he served on active duty over four years. He served in the Army Air Corps at Rooney Field in Puerto Rico with the 246th Heavy Bomber Group stationed in Northern Italy. He was responsible for servicing the bombers being flown to Europe from Rooney Field. He received numerous WWII military medals for his service. He was recognized on an honor flight to Washington, D.C. from Tulsa, Oklahoma a few years ago, and was recognized by the Joint Houses of the Oklahoma Legislature as the Oklahoma Veteran of the Month.

After being discharged from the service, Wesley broadened his love for aviation by resuming his education, graduating from Spartan School of Aeronautics. He furthered his education at the University of Tulsa in the field of management. After graduation, he worked for Braniff Airlines for one year and then was hired by American Airlines in 1947 and worked there until his retirement in 1983.

He met the love of his life, Marjorie Pruitt, while she was a nursing student at St. John Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The couple was married on December 24, 1947, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and were married for 49 years.

Wesley was a 33rd degree Mason, an active member of the Masonic Lodge and was proud that he was the oldest member of his Tulsa Blue Lodge. He served on numerous committees and positions and was responsible for several degree teams with the Tulsa Scottish Rite. He was also an active member of the Tulsa Shriners and a member of the Red Cross of Constantine.

Wesley is survived by his son, Gary Farabough and his wife Jan, granddaughter, Kimberly Farabough Mouledoux and her husband Warren Mouledoux, III, and two great-grandchildren, Warren Mouledoux, IV and Charlotte Mouledoux of Ardmore, Oklahoma, and grandson Brian Farabough and his wife Becca and great-granddaughter, Lulu Farabough of Amarillo, Texas; son, C. Wayne Farabough and his wife Rose Ann, grandson, M. Ryan Farabough and his wife Tabatha, and great-grandchildren Michael Farabough and Natalie Farabough, and granddaughter, Kristina Farabough Williams and her husband Rhys Williams, and great-grandchildren Eleri Williams and Lowri Williams of Tulsa, Oklahoma; son, Donald Farabough and grandsons, Ross Farabough and Evan Farabough of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sister Mildred Farabough Blunk and her husband Don, of Wichita, Kansas; sister-in-law Vera Farabough, of Arlington, Texas; sister-in-law Judy Farabough of Perry, Oklahoma; and many nieces and nephews.

For the past several years Wesley enjoyed spending time with his special friend Marilyn Woolsey, and her sons Lance and Brian Woolsey, and their families.

Wesley will also be remembered and missed for the beautiful artwork he created for special occasion envelopes, and lovingly saved by friends and family.

Memorial services for Wesley C. Farabough will be at First United Methodist Church, 1115 South Boulder Avenue, Tulsa, Oklahoma on August 5, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. R.
