Willetta Jane Duncan, known to most simply as Jane, passed away on August 21, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 96. Born on February 23, 1928, in Bigheart, Avant, Osage County, Oklahoma, Jane grew up in a nurturing family and carried forward the values of love and education throughout her life.
Jane dedicated many years as a public school teacher in Tulsa, sharing her passion for learning and enriching the lives of countless students. She was a joyful presence, known for her love of travel and her ability to make lasting friendships. Jane's commitment to education extended beyond her career as she was a proud alumna of the University of Tulsa.
Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was deeply involved in her spiritual community. For many years, Jane was an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Tulsa, where she sang in the Chancel Choir and cultivated lifelong friendships.
Jane was the beloved matriarch of her family, survived by her daughter, Carol J. Emerson; son, Robert Duncan; grandchildren, Chas Emerson, Chelsea Emerson, Alex Duncan, Dustin Duncan, and Dylan Duncan; great-grandchildren, Dallas Wiggins and Dale Ann Wiggins; and sisters, Connie Cartlidge and Donella Hanover. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd R. Duncan; her parents, Leona and Herbert Hulsizer; and her brother, Gearld Hulsizer.
The funeral service will be held at Saint Dunstan's Episcopal Church in Tulsa on September 28th, 2024, at 10am. The internment will follow on September 30, 2024, at 1pm at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa. Moore's Southlawn of Tulsa, OK, is assisting the family during this time.
