In Loving Memory of William Wray Barrett

Born on February 20th, 1939, in the heart of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, William Barrett (Bill) embarked on a life journey that brought joy and warmth to everyone he encountered. On October 12th, 2023, we bid farewell to a beloved husband, step-father, friend, and brother, who filled our lives with laughter and love.

Bill was a man of many passions, but none greater than his devotion to his cherished wife, Sweet Alice. For forty years, his unwavering love for her was a testament to the depth of his heart, always putting her first in every aspect of their journey together. Alice wants to make sure to share how much she adored Bill, enjoyed their many road trips near and far and for all to remember that he was a very good and decent man she will always love.

Throughout his life, Bill roamed the highways and byways of the United States, always with an uncanny knack for finding the best meal in any corner of the country. He shared this culinary wisdom generously, making him a beloved guide for fellow travelers and food enthusiasts alike.

Bill's generous spirit and giving heart touched the lives of countless individuals. Many called him friend, and to others, he was a brother in every sense of the word. He had an innate ability to bring people together, fostering connections that lasted a lifetime. He always had a story to share. While some stories bordered on the unbelievable, he assured us all they were indeed true! He lived quite a life!

Bill's faith in Jesus was an integral part of his life, providing him with guidance, strength, and a source of unwavering love that he, in turn, shared with those around him. Bill also proudly served his country in the National Guard, demonstrating his commitment to his community and nation.

Whether gathered around a restaurant table or grilling in his own backyard, Bill thrived in the company of friends and family. His infectious laughter and warm smile could light up any room, leaving a lasting impression on those lucky enough to be in his presence.

As we remember and celebrate the life of Bill Barrett, we are reminded of the joy he brought into our lives and the love he shared so freely. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his wife Alice, step-daughters Alison Messick and Karen Pennington and son-in-law Michael Pennington, and all those who were fortunate enough to call him a friend. Bill's memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration to us all.

Rest in peace, dear Bill, knowing that your love and light will continue to shine brightly in our hearts.
