William Herbert "Herb" Neafus, Jr. was born June 26th,1927, in Jenks, OK to William Neafus, Sr & Sarah Elizabeth Taber Neafus and passed from this life March 7th, 2025 at the age of 97.
Herb began his career first as a sheetrock contractor after he came back from his Naval duties in Japan at the end of World War II. Soon after, he met Betty at Cain's Ballroom, where they danced the night away and continued dancing throughout their marriage. They married Jan 21st, 1949, and welcomed their son, Ron, later that year with Lisa coming 12 years later. At that time, in the 50s, he owned the largest sheetrock company in Tulsa and they drywalled all of the now historic homes, in Lortondale, Holliday Hills, and many others. Herb started building homes in the early 60s, building well over 100 homes throughout Tulsa, until he retired in the 80s. He (and Betty) were also avid golfers, a gardener, and loved to grow tomatoes..or as he called them, damatas. He was always jolly with a great attitude, even when there wasn't anything to be jolly about. He will be dearly missed.
Herb is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 74 years, Betty D. Neafus; his son, Ronald J. Neafus; and his siblings. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Neafus (Heather Cottrill) of Bixby, OK and many nieces, cousins, family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm Friday, March 21st, 2025, at the Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel.
