Obituary

William Howard "Bill" Rayborn was born July 29, 1935 to Jesse W. and Gertie (Dake) Rayborn in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2021 in Fort Worth, Texas at the age of 85.

He gave his life to Christ as an eight-year-old boy at Calvary Baptist Church in Tulsa.

Bill had a passion for music and photography in high school, where he was in the choir and was President of the Photography Club. After graduating from Will Rogers High School in 1953, he continued his education at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He studied photography and journalism before settling on Music Education and following God's call into Music Ministry. While at OBU, Bill was heavily involved in the Bison Glee Club and made many, many lifelong friends and memories.

Bill served as Minister of Music at churches in Oklahoma, Missouri, South Carolina, Texas and California. After his church service ended, he continued to serve the Lord through music ministry in numerous ways, highlighted by his time as manager for Andrae Crouch and the Disciples and his work with Christian Artists Corporation, where he was instrumental in creating the annual Christian Artists Music Seminar in the Rockies in Estes Park, Colorado. Bill finished his career with years of writing and publishing The Church Music Report, a monthly newsletter for church musicians.

He is survived by his wife, Lou Couch; daughter Gayle Reynolds and son-in-law, Duane Reynolds, daughter Brenda Anderson; grandchildren, Alyson Heinemanv (Taylor), Bethany Torrez (Raymond), Ian Anderson and Emma Anderson; great-grandchildren, Brenner Torrez, Sutton Heineman and Rian Heineman.

Graveside service will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Tulsa, Oklahoma, at 2 pm Tuesday, May 11 under the direction of Moore Funeral Home Southlawn Chapel, and officiated by one of his Bison Glee Club buddies, Jerry O. Jones of Hot Springs, Arkansas.
