Obituary

William Paul Reagan, M.D. (88) died peacefully on December 13, 2017 with his wife and family members at his side. The son of Dr. Luther D. and Helen May (Stearns) Reagan, of Little Rock, Arkansas, he is survived by his wife of 33 years, SuElla "Suzy" (Anderson) Reagan and her children, Hugh (Pearl), Linda (Walter), and Scott; her grandchildren Raven, Tristan, Amelie (Chuck) Tori (Seth), Merrick (Suh-Yun), Sam and great-grandchildren Johnny, Henry, and Henry; his brother, Richard Emmel (Sharon); and his own children, Robyn (Rubin), Dan (Kimberley), Heather (Knute/Tim), and Jennifer (Rodolfo) and grandchildren, Josh, Judith, Sarah, Bekah (Philip), Ashton, Kristen, Burl, Andres, and Ben.

Paul, a proud graduate of Yale, Johns Hopkins and Harvard Universities, worked for 60 years as a physician in education, management, public health, pulmonary medicine, geriatrics and family practice, inspiring both patients and colleagues to be their best. He was a leader in modernizing the treatment of tuberculosis, and a strong proponent of cultural awareness, patient centered care, and serving underserved populations.

As an active and faithful church member throughout his life, most recently Boston Avenue Methodist Church and Wesley Fellowship Sunday school class, Paul examined diverse topics from a philosophical perspective, researching, writing, debating and sharing his knowledge. He was an ethical person and his faith, a true religion of peace, sustained him.
Paul was a loving husband, had fun being a father and grandfather, and enjoyed entertaining, traveling and story telling at the kitchen table. He thrived on socializing with friends and family, who will recall his Boxing Day and creative celebrations. We will remember him as an avid gardener, a seeker of truth, and a curious, adventuresome, progressive and optimistic participant in our world.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at 2 p.m. followed by a reception at Boston Avenue Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or the Baby Sharon Fund.
