William Walter Knight, Sr., 84 of Tulsa, Ok died at 4pm Tuesday Aug 14, 2018 at Legends At Mingo Road in Broken Arrow. He was born on February 13, 1934 in Nemacolin , PA as an only child to William and Gladys Knight.
Bill or "Pops" as we all knew him went to Waynesburg College in Pa where he obtained his teaching degree. After his children were born he pursued his Master's Degree in Education at Bowie State University in Bowie, MD, eventually becoming a Superintendent. Pops was more than just an educator, he had a passion for all children. He could relate to the youngest students (since he was a kid at heart) as well as those hard to manage teens.
Pops had three grandchildren, Champ, Peanut, and Scooter. They were the Loves of his life!
He had boundless energy when it came to them. His sense of humor was contagious.
Bill was active for many years in Laurel Lodge of Pennsylvania and the Adkar Shrine of Pennsylvania as well as Tulsa, OK. Through these organizations he proudly supported the Shriners Hospital for Children. Pops loved horses, country music, his mountain home in Markleysburg, PA and The Pittsburgh Steelers.
Bill is survived by his wife of 58 years, Janet Chiaraluna who he married on November 26, 1959 in Perryopolis, PA; son, Bill Knight and his wife, Rozann; daughter, Kim DiMarco and husband, Gerald; Grandkids, Ryan Knight, Lexy Johnson (Travis), and Jason DiMarco.
