Our Beloved Winnie Faye Dunbar, known to many as Faye, was born in Rocky, Oklahoma, on May 4th, 1933. Her journey on this earth concluded on October 30, 2024, having blessed us all with 91 years of love, wisdom, and laughter. At the time of her passing, she resided in Moran, Kansas, a place she loved and finally called home..
Faye's story began in Rocky, Oklahoma where she attended a small one-room school house that she remembered fondly walking to, hand-in-hand with Arlena, her sister, as if it were yesterday. As her family moved to Mustang, Oklahoma, Faye made enduring friendships with Eunice Hendrick and Betty Hamilton that lasted throughout her lifetime.
At the age of 16, Faye met and fell in love with Fred Wilson. As a young couple right out of High School in Mustang, they tied the knot in San Diego, California, while Fred dutifully served in the US Navy. Their bond led them back to Oklahoma, where a family life awaited in Tulsa with the births of Darrell in 1958 and Donna in 1961. The family chapter continued to unfold in Oologah, OK until both children proudly graduated from Oologah High School.
Faye's career at Lowrance Electronics in Tulsa was one she enjoyed, but her greatest joy lay in the love she shared with her family and friends. Ever smiling and kindhearted, Faye made everyone around her feel appreciated and loved-traits that remained constant throughout her life. Her home was always a refuge, her arms a safe haven for all.
Tragedy touched Farye's life with the loss of Fred in 1996. Yet her resilient spirit found new companionship with L.E. Dunbar sometime later. She continued to spread joy as a beloved Grandma and Nana, always. To Faye, her family was life's greatest triumph, often expressing pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren for carrying forward the love and warmth that marked her essence,
Faye was preceded in death by her parents, Vinis and Effie McBride, sister Arlena Mae Dunbar, her brother Sammy Lee McBride and the love of her Life Fred Wilson. She leaves behind her Brother Frank McBride and wife Aneata, Her devoted children, Darrel Wilson and wife Joanna, her daughter Donna Wooten. Along with her Grandchildren, Jeff Wilson and wife Carrie, Andy Wilson and wife Ashley, Katy Wilson, Ty Gable and wife Lydia. The later lights of her life included her Great Grandchildren, Lauryn Keaton, MaryAnn Morgan, Kyndell Wilson, Mariah Peasley, Baylor Reyna, Kaden Gibson, Freddy Gibson, River Gable and Chet Gable . As well as her extended family and friends, each person a testament to the life and love Faye so generously shared.
